Now comes the 3Iincr of May 81st and says: The command sent out to wves. tignte the Indian scare at Waken bere, a few days since, have return ed. The Indians were found near Smith's mill, below Wickenburg, and proved to be from San Carlos. They were seventeen in number, and gave as an excuse for leaving their reservation, that the small pox was spreading at the Agency, and they had left to es cape its ravages. Two soldiers were sent from "Wickenberg to the Indian camp, and made the arrest of the seventeen noble braves, who were sub sequently taken in charge bv Captain Porter and his command from Camp Verde, who will safely conduct them back to the San Carlos Reservation and Government rations. Last week we nioutionod Uipo3t ponement of the Texas & Pacific R. 1L bill until nest December and sugges ted that this action would cast n dark shadow oyer the prospects of that road, while on the other hand the favorable report of the Senate Military Commit tee, granting right of way to the South Pacific R. R through the Yuma Res ervation, gives ereat aid and comfort to this latter roud and its many friends. Again this week we have further en couragement. The Senate Commerce Committee has recommended that the Southern Pacific Co., be allowed to maintain, operate, and use their new bridge across the Colorado at Yuma, which the Texas Pacific Compauy de clared was built contrary to law, and encroached upon their rights and priv ileges. Congress will, without doubt, adopt the favorable reports of these Commit tees and thus settle the right of the Southern Pacific to roll through the Military Reservation, across ...
