He wed a very respectable and highly accomplished lady of demo cratic principles, residing in the same county. lie went to pass the first night at a hotel in Canandagua. The lady was duly conducted to the bridal chamber by the maids. After a proper length 0f time had elapsed, the worthy judge aseooded to the chamber and found the door locked. I Heard something about it the other day, which I eau not refrain from publishing, by way of illustration. Clay county. Missouri, had a voting population of 2,500 before the war. A lull regiment of these entered the federal service, and went through the entire struggle, aud wlu:t was left of it came home at the close of it. There are now about 3,000 rotors in the county. At the last election two hundred and fifty were allowed to exercise the riht of suffrage, under the test oath and registry laws.
