We arc glad to hare the aid of the Eaoi.e in the fifrht n?ainst Kansas City. The Commouwcalih commenced it some years ago, and kept it up singly and alone for w ecks and months almost daily. Scarcely a paper in the stale had a word to say on the sub ject, although the citizens of almost every locality wcie being robbed by the 'extortions practiced in Kansas Citv. We say we arc glad to liars the assistance of the Eagle in this good work. But is it not a little unjust to the railroad commission? The com missioner system was adopted as a compromise between those who dcirc maximum rates and an entire "let alone" policy. It"is quite likely that the commissioners arc following the law, which may need amending. If it can be construed to work injury to Kaunas towns and interests, it shou...

SUNDAY MORNING SEPTEMBER 18. FOR ALU SOUTHWEST KANSAS. From the tIouc oC three or four of the papers of the fifty live journals printed in southwest Kansas, one might suppose that their editors had concluded that IiicEaglk, in its effort to arouse local pride and energy, saw only a future for Wichita. Such a conclusion is not only a narrow one Tint is not warranted by anything this paper has said. With a thoroughly developed inde pendent rail way system there is not a county seat in the southwest that may not rcasoaauiv aspire to become a place of from ten to fifteen thousand people with hundreds of fine towns be side. And that there would be a city of real Importance somewhere within from two 'to three hundred miles southwest of Kansas City. While we .shall work to make Wichita that city tho Eaole is, and a...
