CUEIOUS AND SCIENTIFIC. Strength op Glass Tubes. M. Cail letet haa found that a tube of thin glass, 20 J inches in length and three quarters of an inch in diameter, was crashed by an exterior pressure of 1,155 ponnes to the square inch, while similar tubes were burst by an interior pressure one-half less. In making use of very thick glass, capable of resisting a pressure of foxr or five hundred at mospheres, he found the glass to sus tain no permanent change of form. Upon this fact he proposes the construc tion of a very sensitive and very sim ple manometer. Adulteration is India Rubber. USEFUL KNOWLEDGE. " Split Hoofs." Sand crack or a " a Bplit hoof " is very difficult of .cure, without rest until new hern grows from the coronet or upper part of the hoof. But light work may be' done if any blacksmith can be got who can put a bar ehoe upon the foot. When this shoe is put on, the crack should be cIauti nf the all dirt and Band, and the edares nared evenly.
