GENEVIEVE. - MISSQirttl Stock Prospects It will not often happen in this coun try tliHt the supply of jtimmI meals will be as si-aroe as they arc.it the present time. The scarcity of rrain ami its resulting high price, lias precluded the idea of feeding with profit, and, therefore, stock of all kinds has been either sold off close ly, or is in no condition for the market. The most of the cattle that are now coming to market make about as poor leef as anybody is willing to eat, and yet the price which consumers are com pelled to pay for it, is very high. The supply of good beef has been growing less and less and the consumer is having his appetite for that kind of beef nicely whetted. As usually happens after ah instance of abstinence of any character, the abstainer when he docs return to the indulgence of his crucilicd appetite, ap pears to make the attempt to make up for lost time and opjMtrtimities, and con sumes more th...

1: 3 Ha i k i THE FAIR PLAY. PCBLINHKD EVERT SATCttDAV. STR. OKXKVIEVE. MISSOURI. Unman Sarriflees. The news which reaches us by cable to-day of the hideous atrocities commit ted by the Khond in the town of Bhow napatna, in India, where over 400 vic tims have oeen slaughtered, U probably not exaggerated. Its accuracy, unfortu nately, is vouched for by the ghastly de tail that parts of the flesh of the victims have been distributed among such Khonds w had not joined in the nflair, this being t signal for thcin to rise anil join in the revolt. From time immemorial human sacrifices have been a part of the cus toms and religion of this strange people. A-hich present many analogies with the most repulsive features of the old Aztec system in Mexico. The Khonds seem to have been planted in India long before the conquest of the country by the Hindoos, ami still occupy a considerable territory near the non.li wert shores of the (Julf of Bengal. They wear a single garment, reaching to the kne...
