Present—Aldermen Ellison, Jewett Otis, George, Tcnnent, Welch, President Fowler and HrS Honor the Mayor. President Fowler submitted a substitute for the ordinauce regulating the Police acted upon at the last meeting of the Council. It is made to conform to the amended Charter. Substitute adopted. A man named Frank Clements attempt- , ed to corainit suicide l>y hanging himself I with a clothes line, on Saturday. lie was i rescued before life was extinct, lie was subsequently arrested for robbery. Eleven passengers left in the overland coach this morning. Several Frenchmen were poisoned by eating toad-stools, at Oakland, number of whom have died. The steamer Flora Temple was launched at 2 o'clock yesterday, at Steamboat Point. Sho is soon to be put on the Sacramento trade. STAUING AFFAIR.—A serious stabbing affair came off last evening at a somewhat noted house on Mill street, in this place, occupied by a mulatto woman known as " Pricilla."
