Pmwn«l. Now that the election i* emled, and my Hotive* will not b« liable to miwoiigeption, nor my language be mi*uuderstood or iniscomitnicd, 1 deem it fit high importance to myself and of interest to the public to make the following xtatcment. (From the Placer Times of Nov.24 ) Wintering in the Mines -Now that our paper is enlarged we shall, in this and subsequent numbers devote more space to the subject of mining and mines than our circumscribed limits have heretofore allowed us to indulge in. We shall, to the best of our information, give a concise yet full account of whatever may be of interest to those of our readers here and elsewhere who look with an eager gaze to the ground-work whence all our wealth and importance are derived ; and after a succession of impartially written articles, perhaps the inquirer after correct knowledge will be able to deduct factd which will enable him to arrive at a correct conclusion in regard to this all-important topic. Our present space will he taken up with a few facts and speculations relative to the prospects ff the miners during the appproaching winte, as being of the most interest at the present time. And in the first place we will correct an erroneous impressio...
