Local .i:?J General. The Wagnant, Boorongie and Voornack Progress Association held their monthly social in the Boorongie Hall on Wednesday. During the evening, Corprl. Fowler gave a very interesting address (un censored) on his experiences on Gallipoli. Music was supplied by Messrs. Corry, M'Lean, O'Brien and Dolan, and dancing was kept up till 2 a.m. There was a record attendance, and the ladies were in strong evidence with the refresh ments. Orange Blossoms NEYLAND - HYDER At Paignie Hall, on 22nd August, a   pretty wedding was celebrated, the hall being tastefully decorated by the girl friends of the bride. The con- tracting parties were Mr Percy Osbourne Neyland and Miss Marga- ret Louise Hyder, eldest daughter of Mr and Mrs W. Hyder, of Paignie. The bride's two eldest brothers went to the war-one, Leslie, was killed in action, bravely fighting in France. The bridegroom himself a reject on account of injury to his arm, comes of a soldier family, having no less than seven brothers who donned the khaki for the Empire- a proud record for their parents, Mr and Mrs Ney land, sen, of Birchip. Locatl and General. The Champion Shire stallion at the ·Royal Show this year was Mr J. P. Belleville's Borro Sportsman The honor carried the blue ribbon and a special gold medal. We might not have mentioned the mat ter only that this particular horse is to be- sent to the Ouyen district next year. While thanking the people of Ouyen for the reception given the Sportsman's Thousand band, Sergt. Tracy made an assertion in regard to one of our citizens which was altogether unjustified. The loan of a lorry (not wagon, as stated) was not refused, and the Sergt. who went down for it-after two diffe rent townsmen had informed the owuer- it would not be required acted in anything but a gentleman ly manner.
