Be Neighbourly! Buy from the Local Man A number of motorists are passing by their local service station today — merely for the sake of the trifling saving on inferior grades of petrol. And it is a trifling saving! The annual mileage of the average motorist is about 5,000 miles, and at 20 miles per gallon, a saving of 2d. per gallon means only £2/1/8 over the whole year. A few others buy petrol in drums and store it at home — running a tremendous risk of fire and explosion — all for a couple of pounds per year. Surely the local service station offers you benefits which more than compensate for such a small saving. You get your tyres checked, free air and water, battery inspection, and many helpful courtesies — all of which cost the station time and money. The regular handling of your car by the local service man enables him to understand it — in your interest. He is the logical friend in need when you want him. Thoroughly dependable service by the friendly filling station is worth yo...

GLUCOSE MAY WIN AGAIN !N TATTERSALLS SUMMER HANDICAP ON SATURDAY Good Prospects for Ambah in Sprint Race VERMONiOUS SHOULD SAFELY HOLD JUVENILE FIELD By 'RICHMOND' Oiring to the large number of middle-distance performers and sprinters which Iiave been sent to Melbourne to race at the important antnmn meetings, small fields are engaxrd in the Summer Handicap and Final Handicaps at Tatlersalls meet ins, at Victoria Park, to morrow. This should be in favor of Glucose and Arubali, who arc selected to win the double. The reduced admission charges in-i troduced by TattersalLs Club at its last meeting will again be in force, and the practice of admittiua: ^omen free of charge will be continued. This policy has done much to brighten the meetings of the club, and the experi ment has been justified. Well-balanced fields will compete to-morrow. The distance of the Handicap Trial Stakes, nine furlongs, will probably trouble some of the 20 acceptors. Lady Murieston seems one of the most likely t...
