That this should be so is only to be expected. This day is looked: forward t » by every map, woman and child id the district, and great are: the preparations therefor. SIMPLE SOIL ANALYSIS. [Newspaper Article] — Great Southern Herald — 8 November 1902

SIMPLE SOIL ANALYSIS. The following simple directions for , soil analysis will enable a person-nob a chemist to roughly' analyse his soil'. •. at very little expense.' The chemistry of the field is tnore beneficial to ;the .. farmer than that of the laboratory. A. soil analysis gives only what the soil contains at the mou.ent of examine tion, and not the quantity 'in-"which . , these constituents may he available to.'. • < the plant in ^s§unil.able forhi:4.nring...- • the period of growth. - If it:is dpsired^, to know whether a'soit is already p^o- • vided with: nitrogenous matter, it is '; sufficient to sow a handful of wheat upon a small square of ground, which has been manured with mineral sub stances only. Without the aid of nitrogenuous 'mattei1,, the miaeraL 1 matter has > scarcely any effect upon wheat. KOJONUP PASTORAL AND AGRICULTURAL SOCIETY. ANNUAL SHOW. [Newspaper Article] — Great Southern Herald — 8 November 1902

KOJONUP PASTORAL AND AGRICULTURAL SOCIETY. ANNUAL SHOW. A beautiful day ushered in the fifth annual show of the-above society, at its picturesque grounds, on Thursday last, the 6th inst. The attendance was almost double that of last year, and was indeed a gratifying spectacle to those who had worked so hard for the success of the show. The sur rounding'districts were well represen ted, visitors being present from Bridgetown, Wagin, Narrogin, Katan ning, Broome Hill and Albany. The exhibits in all cases were numerous, with the exception of the sheep sec tion—and this was no doubt owing to the fact that a great number were quarantined under instructions from the Government stock inspector. It is indeed a pity that a more opportune time than that of the holding of the annual show should not have been chosen by the Government for the work of sheep dipping, and the com mittee are to be sympathised with in that their sheep show was completely spoiled through its operation. The cattle sect...
