FAIRFIELD THEATRE PICTURES The best clown impersonator of the world (Jas. Welch) will be seen in the "New Clown" to-day. This is direct from Hoyt's and up to date. On Mon day and Tuesday next the Australians will be seen in action at the Fairfield pictures, the wonderful " tanks" being a feature of the film. These will be shown intheir entirety, as they are not part of the set that recently met with an acci dent by fire. There were two sets of films, and the Fairfield management as sure the public that they will show the whole of the picture.

TOPICS OF THE WEEK. ------- - SUBURBAN ROBBERIES. Residents should be careful to see that all their windows and doors are fas tened before leaving home, as thieves are about. On Sunday last, between 6.30 and 9 p.m., someone got through the window of the front bedroom of Mr E. Alder's residence, Merton-street, Ivan hoe, and stole two watches, 2 brooches, and three rings, valued at £12/5/. The detectives have the matter in hand. A saddle and bridle, valued at £3, were stolen from Mr Paisley, St. Elmo-road, Alphington, and Mr 0. Hannah has lost some tools from a building that is in course of erection at Alphington.

FAIRFIELD RIFLE CLUB. The Fairfield Rifle Club held their se cond anniversary shoot at Williamstown last Saturday, at 700 yards. There were 20 members present. It took the form of a club teams match-Captain (H. F. Hyslop) v. Vice-Captain's (T. Pettit) team, the result being an easy win for the captain's team by 18 points. The best scores for the winners were W. Williamson 37, P. Smith 36, A. Rams den 35, H. Reidle 32, and for the losers J. Whiflin 38, J. Whitehead 35, T. Pet tit 33, G. Anderson 32, and H. Orr 31. The top scorers in each team-Whiftin and Williamson-fired off for a trophy, which was won by the veteran (W. Wil liamson), after a very exciting finish, by one point.

John Corkhill, claim £11/12/9, dMr Wingrove, who appeared for the Sdefendant, said the case was previously adjourned to allow plaintiff to supply de tails, but it had not been done. Fairfield Red Cross Society. SECRETARY'S REPORT. At the close of our second year, while regretting the ever-increasing demand for hospital comforts and equipment, we are glad to report our branch to be in a sound and progres sive condition. Like 'most other things in connection with this war, we started off without much organi sation. .A few enthusiasts got to gether and began 'work, and those enthusiasts are still the backbone of the society. Gradually one and an other came along, and the want of organising began to make itself felt. While there is still much to be done in this direction, we are gradually getting the society on a business basis. The work of the society and its interests can be best classified under the following heads: The Woskshop, in which all kind of woodwork is conducted. Metal Woik. Home Workers' Section. Subscribers, which is open to any body in sympathy with the scheme to provide the necessary funds for our work. The society is then governed by an Executive ...
