ROCK-SLIDE WRECKS TRAIN . || Disaster on the Southern Railroad at AyerHvilIIe , G « . —Vnicnorrn Tramp Killed . Atlanta , Ga ., March 23 . —The northbound passenger train on the Southern railway for Washington , which left this city at midnig-ht , was wrecked Monday morning at Ayersville , Ga ., near Toccoa , 80 miles north of this city , by a landslide of rock . One person was instantly killed and the fireman and engineer of the train , both of Atlanta , severely bruised and scalded . The dead : Uaknown tramp . The injured : Edward Miller , engineer , arm broken and severely scalded-, ^ Frederick Thompson , fireman badly bruised and . scalded . Lincoln , IS T eb ., March 23 . —A special to the Star from Shelton , Neb ., says : A falling wall caught several volunteer firemen here at ten oclock Monday morning . Fred Colby was , . dragged out alive from beneath the debris . It is not known how many others are-buried beneath the wall . The fire originated Sunday afternoon in the office of a newspaper , and three buildings , with their contents , M-ere destroyed . The smouldering ru j , hs were fanned into a blaze again Monday morning , and Morris drug store , Southerland s drug store and Hart s hardware store caught fire . The town being without fire protection , more than 300 men , women and children turned out to fight the flames , which , aided by a strong wind , threatened the entire business district .
