This Insures the Best Possible Prices tor the Grower and Shipper . Pittsburg , Pa , , July 20 . —This mar- ]< et stands out as the exception in that it is entirely a consumingcenter , there being no considerable quantity of homegrown fruits and vegetables to come in competition with stuff shipped in . The city , with it suburbs , has a population of a million and a quarter people . This means something tu the grower and shipper of produce because this immense population must draw all its food supplies from distant producing sections . Fruits : ind vegetables have to be shipped in here almost by the train loads every day—and mind you , shipped from a distance , very little of it being homegrown stuff . Among the articles in haviest demand and most needed right now are p...

RomegroTrB Cabbage In Heavy Stipply . •—Quality of Tomatoes * ImprovedMichigan Celery Slow—Sweet Corn Poor Chicago , July 20 . —Thc strawberry deal is about , over and interest is now centered mainly on blackbei * - ries , raspberries , blueberries and etc . Ihe arrivals of strawberries are getting smaller every day and what tew are coming on the market are generally poor , soft and small sized . Michigan and llaeine berries in 10 quart cases sell from 75 c to $ 2 . 25 . On the whole , dealers here have profited from the Michigan deal although the quality did not run as they should have liked at all times . The crop was late and it was short but the excellent weather prerious ro the marketing season had a tendency to throw berries on the various markets in the space of but a few days . But the poor quality of the southern berries which had just preceeded them and their high prices cleared the path and left a good demand ...
