A The Citizen. FJtlDA T. APRIL IS. 187a The Stonewn.II Jnckaou ailae. Over sir tons of tin? richest ore ever shipped from the Territory, is at Joseph Collingwood & Co., await ing rc-shipment to Yuma. Since the middle of September last, more than sixteen tons of this character of ore has been shipped from the mine. The average yield of which is something over $S,000, per ton. In addition to the native silver ores shipped to San Francisco, the company have crushed at the mine, more than fifty tons of ore which has paid much of the ex penses of the mine. The present 6hip ment is the largest and richest ever made from the mine, and as it comes from the lowest workings on the mine, argues well for the continuation of the rich vein, which has already yielded the original cost of the mine. This mine has kept from thirty to forty miners employed all the time, and the Secretary informs us that they. have paid out nearly $30,000, in min ing, buildings and improvements on the mine. The las...

The Citizen. MtDAT, JIAY 10, 1673. Cliccrlnc Knil Ronil Sohh. The time has come when the in. creasing importance of Arizona de mands better and more rapid means ofl travel and transportation. Every resi dent of our vast Territory appreciate this fact, and railroad men are begin ing to feel that they cannot afford to lose time in parley and legislation. The present is no tithe for us to op pose or object to a strong railroad cor poration because another imaginary company might possibly benefit us more in uie long run. It we had a choice of several good companies we might then discuss their respective merits and express our preference, but from our best information xvc may state that onlv one railroad is liable to penetrate the interior of Arizona for some years to come. The Texas Pa cific cannot build without government aid and there is little or no possibility of that aid being extended, while on the other hand we have recent reliable assurances that the Southern Pacific Railroad wi...

The more zealous of the Texas Pa cific railway advocates labor about as hard to conceal the large aid they ask of Congress as they do to misrepresent the purposes and propositions -of the Southern Pacific company. The Lou isville Courier Journal is distinguish- ing itself in this particular. This pR-' per has lately taken special pains to misstate the arguments and demands of other leading journals that are will ing to tell the whole truth and insist that government shall not take upon itself lurther liabilities in behalf of any railway company. The Chicago Tribune for years has demanded that no further public liability be created to bolster up weak or strong compan ies. To a series of charges to the con trary by the Kentucky paper, the Chi cago Tribune replies at ensrth, nud closes with this language whi...
