■l I compartment ping cars in service on the Burling ton Route between St. l'aul and Chicago are a new thing comparatively. Only a few lines use them. The first western road to do so was the Burlington Route. For ladies traveling alone or with escort, nothing so satisfactory as the com- part ment has ever been invented. Kacli com partment has its own wasli stand and toilet conveni lences. There is plenty of room to dress. And abso lute privacy—au impossi bility in an ordinary sleep er —is assured. WHIPPING HIS WEIGHT. Xtxe Cliaiupioa Logger Overestimated Ilia lis. tic Ability. Ia the logging camps of Michigan might makes right and the man who has whipped all comers in fair fights is king of his camp. One of these, said a logger to u re porter, was Vvry boastful of his exploits. He had bctrii the victor in a dozen lights and 110 one cared to enter the lifts with him, but every man in the camp hated the champion. Going into a saloon one day he announced: "I'm tired of these habits in camp. I ain't had a good fight i;i Michigan. I can whip my weight in dogs, wildcats or anvthing that breathes for #100." A meek looking man took the bet and arrangements for the fight were made. It was to take place in a closed room one week from the time the bet was made.
