Arizona Sentinel. SATURDAY, - SEPTEMBER 14, 1S78 In eulogizing Col. K. S. "SVool sey, said to be a candidate for Congress, the Miner says: " Prescott has possession of the Capital to-day through his honest and unprejudiced ballot." "Woolsey's vote could have taken the Capital to Phoenix; but he preferred Prescott. Is tnat why 20 many Phoenix people are going to vote for him? Last Monday there were ship ped to San Francisco 20,060 pounds of concentrations from the Silver King mine, which have been over thirty days on the road; the usual time being fifteen days. This shipment was the first one on August account, and has been followed by others as fast as the roads have permitted. The Su perintendent has complained that concentrations have accumulated at the mill faster than the teams could take it out of the way; they will come with a rush when the roads dry. Our Tucson mails are again runuing on time. Three mails from there arrived here last Tues day, one of them being several liours...

ajuzona Sentinel. A GJilrtinjr Candidate. Mr Davis' chances of election to the position of Delegate to Congress appear to be improving Htill more rapidly than had been auticiuated. though he has still much distance to cover before he can catch up with Stevens. He is alreadv ahead of the other can didate?, without doubt. He has entered upon an active canvass, raid in addressing the people wherever he goes he is increns- ine- the enthusiasm for him. This feeling is one that grows; as men find that his political chances are imoroving there is a greater dis position to consider his candi dacy, and favorably. What has heretofore worked against Davis has been a feeling that he had no chance of election, and that Ste vens was sure of it; this feeling is beginning to wear away. Davis' speech at Prescotr, last week, has been variously com mented on. The two papers at that place favor other candidates, and would, naturally, not repre sent the marked change it made m Davis' favor. Letters from...

Arizona Sentinel. SATUItDAT, - SPT3JiEJ2S, 1S78 Is ix little more than five weeks the election comes off; yet candi dates for County offices appear to be scarce, or diffident. We have advocated the nomination of a ticket by citizens in mass-meet ing, but cannot learn tnat any t steps are being taken in that di- j rection. The inconvenience, in a j business point of view, of going j to Prescott seems to deter men from wanting to go to the Legis- Wednesday the Doctor shipped lature. We suggest that Messrs. I express, from hero to Indian Alexander and Purdy be invited ' aPolls a boxe(I specimen from the tnnt.(.Pr nominations. In timfes llina del Tajo, the whole width gone by we have heard the for mer gentleman declare that, if he ever went to the Legislature at all, he should prefer to go to the Assembly, as affording better op portunities for making record, and as always being a more agreeable body to work in. Arizona Sen SATURDAY, OCTOBElto, 18TS The Enterprise tells us that Campbell was one of the first men of Northern Arizona who in vested money in a brick store, in cattle, etc." Whose money did he invest? Butfura's? If we have taken items from the Enterprise without giving proper credit, we are sorry, and will try to avoid doing so again. In looking over our files, how ever, we fail to find that such has been the case. The Enterprise, perhaps, charges us with " steal ing" its items, because wild ac cusation and angry words have become the principal spices with which it seasons the intellectual repasts prepared for its readers. A he-action in favor of Davis seems to be taking place in this County, as in other parts of the Territory. When his candidacy was first announced there seemed to be a general feeling that he had no chance of winning the election; and even men kindly to him were disposed to east their votes for some one of the other three candidates. Of late, how ever, that feeli...
