Safest Jntelliqenee (BY WIHB.) SYDNEY, Thursday. Tha Colonial Treasurer delivered his budget speech. He said the expendi ture for the current year would be £iO,02'9,000, aud the estimated revenne £9,809,000. which left a de ficiency of £220,000. To meet this shortage, he proposed to' raise Stamp dutieB, from which he expected to get £70,000 for the half year. He also intended to ask the House to sanction, the issue of £4,000,000 worth of short dated Treasury Bills. Fending the authorisation of this issue, he had arranged with two local banks for an advance of £850,000 to meet pressing liabilities. He asserted that the colony had been living on boraowe'd trust funds for a considerable number of years. Eleven thousand Boers were en gaged and entrenched in a semi-circle, their front being eight miles lone. A fierce artillery fire lasted for eight hours. Op Thursday, the 30th ultimo, the public had an opportunity of judging of the merits of the Latest Improved Complete Harvester, as turned out by the eminent agricultural implement makers, Messrs. Nicholson and Mor row, of Melbourne, Victoria. Messrs. Rice Bros, at Narwonah, Narromine, the local agents for this ingeniuosly contrived machine, are to be con gratualed upon affording a public   view of its wonderful capabilities.
