BELLA LISTENS TO A GRUiLSOMlE STORY. Inside the tram lines straw had been laid down before the little house in the Kennington-road, and every thing possible done to exclude noise from the sick room. "W. G." AND PHIL MAY. [Newspaper Article] — Werribee Shire Banner — 6 February 1913

"W. G," AND PHIL MAY. The advent of the cricket seasoun recalls to mind a good story in whic:h the principal characters were .Phil May, and Dr. W. G. Grace. It appears that on one occasion Phil May had in one of his irresis tibly comic pen and ink sketches de picted W. G. fielding "cover-point." Unhapplyl tile sketch was not pubh lished until the winter, when cricket had been abandoned. Dr. Grace found considerable merriment in the picture, inasmuoh ans lie was portray ed{ as wearing a pair of gloves for his field work. He promptly wired Phil May in these terms : "Why, oh, why does cover-point wear wicket-keeping glovew 7-Grace." In the hope of elucidating the myn tery at once he prepaid a reply, buhit none arrived during the day. In the early hours of a wintry morning Dr. Grace was nlddenly aroused from his, saltaners by the vIolent ringingg of the hell, and, hastily' donning his dressing-gown, 110 proceeded to his front door. A fearful blast of anow greeted himl and a telegraph me...
