College men . [ The following taken from an exchange will prove a source of gratification to ail students when they learn how the college man is rapidly taking prominent part in our gicat legislative bodies . ] It is especially interesting for college men to take the noted public men of the day and classify them as to whether they are college men or not . A published list of the members of the Congress now sitting in Washington , Senators and Representatives alike , reveals many facts of importance to the man in college . It shows that of our United States Senators , 55 per cent , have been through some college , university or professional school , while 45 per cent , were forced to enter upon their duties without this training . In regard to the House of Repiesentative it was found that there are 53 college men to every 47 non- college graduates . But when it is borne in mind that of our male population only about two in every hun ¬ dred go to the college or advanced school , it ap...

Y . M . C . A . flews . Mr E . P . Sayford _, who represents the Inter national Y . M . C . A . Association at the American colleges and universities , is with us for a few days . His presence with us is especially interesting since he was at one time a student in the Preparatory Department of our college . Mr . Sayford delivered his first talk on Tuesday evening , and this will be followed by two more on Wednesday and Thursday evenings . His first talk had to do , principally with the incidents and circumstances that led him to enter upon the work in which he is engaged and has been engaged for the past eleven years , with wonderful success . He also appealed to the students to be honest in all their work and always to be open , active Christians . The students are very highly pleased with Mr . Sayford s fust talk to them . This is not surprising for his cheerful , frank , and direct manner is irresistible . Besides all his statements are to the point and so clearly practical that ...
