Tho first thing a travolor docs after bis arri val in Venico is to hunt up one of thoso gondolas which ho has hoard and read so much about. And about the first thing he sees is ono of them. Tho read ers of the Journal aro probably all aware that thero aro not over a half dozen streets in all Venico; but there are 147 canals, by means of which pas sengers can bo conveyed to any part of the city. These canals aro the "streets" of Venice, and the gondolas are the "cubs, barouchug, street cars," and all. At convenient dintauces these watery avenues' aro crossod by bridges. There teems to be quite a spirited contest between Lakes Maggioro and Como for tho name of the most beautiful. Somo who have visited both Como and Maggioro, pronounce the latter the most attractive.
