(Evening State gottntal SATURDAY EVKNIKG, MAR. 23, 1872. Some curious information has come to I light about tho antecedents of Shere All, the man who killed l,ord Mayo, tiovcrnor (i-iicral of India. He is _ mountaineer I from tho Himalayas, anil was a soldier— and an excellent one -in the British caval ry j sober, faithful, obedient and orderly; but, b_ing enquired in a "blood feud" with members of his uwn tribe, he used to get a furlough about every half } - car for the pur pose of killing one of his relatives on the other side of the frontier; having perform ed this duty he always returned promptly .to his regiment. .Vs ill-luck would have it, however, he met one of his relatives on British soil, in the neighborhood of Pc shawur, and killed him, too ; but on Bri tish soil the act was a crime, so he was sentenced to death, and afterwards to transportation for life. The produce of this county has an excellent reputation in Georgetown, Washington, and Haltimore markets, both for quantity and quality. Taylor, Hamil ton, Va., was read before the patrons of said factory January 20th, 1872 : Amount of milk received from .May oth to September Bth, 1871, 378,138 lb*. Amount of cheese manufactured, 36,025 lbs. 10,3 lbs. of milk required for one lb. of cheese. The Enquirer of this morning has a two-column editorial upon the "Tariff," in which it displays a very proper interest in lliis great question. We are somewhat at loss to know from this article, just how the inquirer would vote upon any specific pro position, relating to taxes on importations. It states the leading free-trade arguments, an J especially compliments and quotes Mr. Crossland, of Kentucky, for his recent _poech in Congress.
