ADVOCATE LOT PE SECURED Xo More Permits Will Be Issued lor Moving Houses Over Paved Streets. The finest ion of a new city hall for Columbia was brought before the city council last night at an adjourned ses sion, when a proposition for the pur chase of one of. two lots for a site was presented by J. E. Heibel. He of fered to sell the city a lot directly west of the court house, or one at Walnut and Sixth streets, but the council laid the matter over, as noth ing could bo done at present owing to the impoverished condition of the treasury. The city has one other offer of a site, the lot belonging to the Odd Fel lows at Walnut and Seventh streets, and according to several members of the council, it is by far the most ac ceptable site offered. 1.. .1. BODY DISAPPEARED BEFORE SPOT COULD BE REACHED He Was Managing Editor of the University Missourian -The Trip Temporarily Suspended. "Gordon Fisher was drowned in White river." That was all the message said which reached the Missourian office yes terday afternoon at half-past 5 o'clock, and as with all such messages of death, credence was slow to respond, and confirmation could not be ob tained. It came as a rumor, by way of St. Louis. There was hope for its un truthfulness, yet deepest apprehension. Late at night came confirmation in a message from members of tlve party.
