ABILENE WEEKLY REFLECTOR,' ABILENE,- KANSAS, SEPTEMBER 24, 1891. .rJ Y- THE HOPE FAIB. Alliance Day Meets With Small Success. Bpeclal BEFLrciOK Correapon Jence. Hope, Sept. 17. The Hope fair is well under way and will be finished tomorrow. There is a display of stock and agricultural products about equal to last year's but the attendance is less, owing to several reasons. The dusty, windy weather and the fact that the reunion was held only a short time jipo are probably chiefly responsi ble for the decreased interest. The fair officers have worked hard to make the meeting a success and it is hoped that the attendance this afternoon and tomorrow will be more satisfactory. Yesterday wa3 alliance day and the difference in enthusiasism between the same occasion last year was noticeable. Then there was a parade and a large attendance but yesterday in spite of the utmost efforts ofthe alliance leaders les3 than 300 people went on the grounds. A calamity speaker from Hutchinson had been en...

The Races Are the Best Ever Held on the Track and the Association Is Pleased Premiums Awarded. THUBSDA"?'. The large crowd at the races yester day saw the fastest time ever made on the Abilene track, 2:18 in the pacing race. Horsemen from all parts of the west who are present declare that the Abilene track is superior to anything this side of Chicago and judging from the records made at the past meetings and this year they are evidently right. The favorites were in the lead yes terday as they have been throughout the races. Every race has been won in three straight heats and the bettors who put their money on the field have been uniformly and regularly left. For this reason pool selling went a little Blow along toward the last and the races were allowed to go on with less than the usual amount of wagers. Four races were finished yesterday and as...
