M to organize a body of Volunteer Police men to protect the city from incendiaries. Mayor Hardenbergh called the meeting to order, and the secretary of the committee read the following report, which was adopted : The committee of eleven appointed to prepare a system of organization for the formation of "a Volunteer I'olice, beg leave to report that they have divided the city into seven districts, as bet forth, with the names of ;i-entlemen selected to enrol the names of citizens willing to servo on such police: Of these districts, sill have rpjiorted, and. so far as the limited time has allowed, the result is such, as to give flattering hopes of the success of the present attempt.
