Stop Killing Ywsdf Do non-smokers read more books? [Newspaper Article] — El Sereno Star — 4 June 1964
Stop Killing Ywsdf Do non-smokers read more books? By PETER J. STEINCROHN According to a paper by E. J. Salber, M.D., and his associates, in "Pediatrics" and condensed in the Journal of the American Medical Association. "Smokers spend a greater amount of time watching television and less time reading books then do nonsmokers. Their friends are more often smokers, and they go to the movies more frequently, attend dances oftener, and are car owners more often than nonsmokers. On the other hand, they play less sports and belong to fewer clubs and organizations." Comment: I can understand where watching commercials might induce them to smoke more; but I don’t understand the tie-in between smoking and car ownership. • * • BED-WETTINO OFTEN STUBBORN PROBLEM Dear Dr. Steincrohn; My problem is my 11-year-old's problem.
