Thb present almost impassable state of the Zcchan-lleminc road, has once more forced upon the attention of the residents of Zeehan their position as regards vehicular communication with the outside world. Zeehan is, as most of our readers are already aware, situated about thirteen niUcs from Bemine, or Trial Harbor as it is best known as ; from Rciuinc to Zeehan, their exists what is by courtesy called a road, that is corduroyed in places, and even then only to a width of about ten feet, on this ares the whole of the traffic for Zeehan has to pass, aud as there are about one hundred teams daily passing over this narrow piece of road, some idea may be formed of the state it is in ; accidents to horses and vehicles being almost of daily occurancc, until at last it has been intimated that tlie carrie...

OUR RAILWAY. TO THE EDITOR. [Newspaper Article] — Zeehan and Dundas Herald — 1 May 1891

OUR RAILWAY. TO THE EDITOR. SlE, — Your able article ancnt the roil way is nne that llio most casual observer can substantiate, excepting where yqu have credited the railway contractors with the possible power of bringing the train into Zechnri within a few weeks— this I can assert is a physical impossibility for the following reasons :— 0no day during the present weak, I came along the railway line from Strahan to Zeehan, riding in h milwav truck out to the 10 mile peg, walking th» remainder of the distance to Zeehan. Baring been used to railway contraots, I took casual observations on the way.iDoting -the quantity of work to be done, sad comparing it with tiut finished, . I am satisfied that it will take 13 weeks from May 1st until tlio Little Henty is reached by the locomotive, ami 26 weeks will see her cross tho river, and on or about tho 1st February, 1892, you will hear the whistle of the engine as slut is pulling np for the first time at 'the terminus of Zeehan.
