MANSFIELD AGRICULTURAL SOCIETY. The annual meeting of the members of the society was held at the Shire Hall, Mansfield, on Saturday last. Present Dr Rowe in the chair, and Messrs Douglas, J. Tomkins, and Baldry. The accounts of the society were brought up and referred to Messrs Brown and White to audit. The annual report showed a debit balance of £38-l0s. This being the annual meeting the election of officeirs was proceeded with Dr. Rowe, the President, retired, and declined to be re-elected, Mr Kitchen was elected President; Mr Baldry, Vice-Presi dent; Mr A. Smith, Treasurer. Mr Molyneux, the Secretary, having been elected for six months his time did not expire until January, 1871. A committee of 26 gentlemen having been elected, it was proposed that the 14 collectors who had already collected should still collect. Mr Baldry proposed as an amendment that a paid collector at 10 per. cent, be appointed, and that tenders be called for. Mr Martin seconded the resolu tion. Carried. Mr B...

MANSFIELD POLICE COURT. Saturday, October 1. (Before Dr, Rowe and Mr A. Crockett.) William Donnelly and John Donnelly, who are com mitted to take their trial at the Jamieson Generel Ses sions for cattle stealing, were brought up charged with being about to abscond from their bail. They were sent to prison, but were informed that fresh bail would be allowed, The same prisoners were then charged with cattle stealing, and remanded for eight days. There was a separate charge of cattle stealing against John Donnelly alone; upon this the prisoner was remanded for eight days Redfern v Adam Morries-This was an adjourned   summons for £2 15s, balance of the purchase money of a cow. The case had been adjourned for the opinion of the law officers of the Crown as to whether cattle could be sued for in the police court.
