To the Editor. [Newspaper Article] — The Canowindra Star — 15 March 1901

To the Editor. Sir, — I fool compelled to take exception to your suggestion to the Canowindra. P. A., and II. Association that ot future exhibitions it should reuiovo the regula tion that tho wheat taking the prize should be sold at current local value, and also to your assertion that such ro guinuou is unuouineaiy responsible tor I tho scarcity of exhibits in this section, as I it is not reasonable to expect farmers to I sell produce of prime quality at the I ordinary rate.' In my opinion theregu- I latiou is a wise, as also a necessary one, I and at the same time feel certain it did I not originate with the Canowindra I Association, and if its existence in other I kindred associations holds good, -why not I in Canowindra ? One of the conditions 1 is that the 4 bushels must bo a sample of I 100 bushels, declaration to be made if I required, but how often is that doclara- I t.ion asked for — it is, I fancy, more I honored in the breach than in the obser- I vance ; but suppose that t...

Sporting Chat. [Bj- PuBTKXiren.'] JLhe annual race mooting of tho Cano windra Jockey Club 011 the 7th inst., proved a great success both ns regards attendance and racing, and it was par ticu'.arly pleasing to see tho interest takon in tho meeting by the larce number of members, who attended with their wives and families, showing that the lowering of the members foes has been a step 111 the right direction, as people who have become members of any institution naturally evince more interest in tho proceedings thrn they would do otherwise. Nyrang Creek. (From our Correspondent.) On Wednesday, 13tli inst., one oi ttte prettiest ceremonies that has for a long time been witnessed in the district, took place at Tonaribine, the residence of Mr. William Jones, when Lillian, second daughter of that gentleman, gave her hand in marriage to Mr. Fred Bergc, of Grcnfell. The bride, who looked ex ceedingly well in a dress of cream nun's veiling, trimmed with silk, and a wreath of orango blossoms with veil to match, was given away by her father. There were throe bridesmaids, Miss.Florrie and Gertie Jones, sisters of the bride, and Miss Minnie Burton. The bridesgroom's brother, Mr. DBerge, acted as best man. Blisters. BLISTERING FOR BONEY DEPOSITS. [Newspaper Article] — The Canowindra Star — 22 March 1901

Blisters. BLISTERING FOG BONEY DE POSITS. For all sorts of boney deposits the biniodide blister is preferred, for tno reason that it is moro lasting in its effects, if slower and less vigorous at the time of application. The strength must depend on the nature of the growth for which, it its employed, the sensitiveness or other wise of the subject to be acted upon, and the necessities of the owner. The colt with another year before him at grass may have a developing side bone blis tered with a one-in-eight biniodide ; or the stale hunter, or other horse, with a summer's run after preliuiiuaiy treat ment in the stable ; but the working horse, who may be wanted nearly every day, may not be lame in the sense of being incapable of doing any work, yet requiring treatment of a more or less active land. A weak tendon in a horse belonging to the latter category may perhaps be got sound again by painting with tincture of iodide twice a week, and bandaging with cold water, in which a proportio...
