THE NORTH Queensland Register. PUBLISHED WEEKLY. WEDNESDAY, AUGUST 17, 1892. [Newspaper Article] — The North Queensland Register — 17 August 1892

THE NORTH PUBLISHED WEEKLY. WEDNESDAY, AUGUST 17, 1892.' THE Tovonsoittc Bulletin says:-" The manager of the Queensland Meat Export and Agency Co , Ltd., has intimated to us that it has been decided to stop freezing operations at the works, Boss River, until such time as certain repairs to machinery can be mads. This, it is expected, will take about three weeks. The company is shipping all meat on hand by the Otarama, and as soon as their stores are empty freezing will be stopped for about three weeks." THE traffic returns for the whole of the Queensland lines for the month of July show that although there was a considerable fall ing off oa the Southern and Western lines as compared with July of last year, the in creases on the Central and Northern lines more than compensate for this, and the result is a net increase of £2939. The details are as follow;-Southern District, decrease, £3,019; Central, increase, £2,618; Mackay, decrease, £177; Bowen, decrease, £91; Northern, increase, £...

Mining News. [BY TELEGRAPH.] GEORGETOWN, August 9 [Newspaper Article] — The North Queensland Register — 17 August 1892

Hilling Xews. I BY TELEGRAPH.J G-eorgetovtn, August 9 The application by F. G. 6. Vosper and others for a lease at Percyville of 5 acre*, known as the Bed Flag, was rejected at the Warden's Court to-day, on account of an in formality in the application. The Warden would not make an order for a refund of the fees. This property was originally known as the Castleton Heads, and Vosper's mission to Charters Towers was to, float it into a com pany. The representative of the London share holders in the Cumberland P C. mine, Mr Boss Bobinson, arrived by coach last night and left for the mine to-day. Machinery is continually leaving the field and it is now reported the St G-eoige battery is under offer to a Croydon syndicate. CROYDON, August 10. The True Blue rough clean-up from 200 tons gave 300oz gold, and the Nancy Lee No. 1 North, 59 tons, yielded 186oz. The July returns were .1760 tons for 315432, but only V mills out of 19 were crushing, the rest being hung up for want of water. CROYD...

Out Mg Grogon letteis. (FROM OTTO CORRESPONDENT) CROYDOIT, July 31. The chief topic of the week, of the latter end of it at any rate, was the rumours of something fresh at the G-olden Grate Block. The air has been full of expectancy for the last ten days, owing to the very favorable country the contractors at the Block have , been working in, and when a report gotab ut that a bit of stone had been obtained from the shaft, it was soon exaggerated into the reef. The folio win® is the manager's official report of it, which should convey a definite j idea of what has really happened up to date : -" During the past fortnight we have sunk a further distance of loft. The countiy passed through has been principally plum bago, intermixed with diorite and granite. A leader came in from the west corner of your shaft last night, averaging frjm lin to 4in in thickness and extending across the shaft. The leader in question was prospected and carried gold, while the country itself is < ...
