TO TJ1E EDITOR OF THE WARWICK AEGU8. Sin,-There can be no doubt, now that matters have gone BO far, but that for a sea ton the rural colonists of Queensland will have to submit to a system of self-government much the same as that which most residents of the municipalities are by tliiB time pretty familiar with. Such being the case it is next to useless to indulge in lamentations over what it is clear cannot now be altered, but I would like to express my opinion that it serves the small men right that the Act haB been forced upon them j it will show them pretty plninly tho errors they were guilty of in not protesting, before it was too late, against a measure which will bo found to weigh unbearably heavily on many stru...

Glengallan Divisional Board. TO THE EDITOR OF THE WARWICK ARGUS. [Newspaper Article] — Warwick Argus — 24 April 1880

Qiengallan Divisional Board TO THE EDITOR 01-' THE WARWICK AUDI'S. Sib,-Will you allow a farmer, and a resi dent of Lower Swan Creek, tipaco for a few words on the actions of the Divisional Board. On rending your report of the mooting on tho 17th in«t., I find thai nil bind Imfoiv t he year 18(18, no matter what Mb present, value may be, must be rated at the highest assessment; that fencing or any other im provement does not, in the judgment of the Hoard, add to the vulue of the land j and that those farinB which were taken up as home standR (nlthoujjh they are now, and uiny have been for years, freeholds) the original prico being under fis., will not be rated nt all. The Warwick Races. [Newspaper Article] — Warwick Argus — 24 April 1880

The Warwick Races (by Otm SFOBTIKQ COEBEgPONDEJT.) THE local event is closely approaching, and I was reminded of this on Thursday evening, when four horses were brought to town by Mr. Henderson, of Ipswich, and at once located at Charlie Bugdens stabloB, which afford the advantage of spacious exercising ground adjacent to the stalls, in the case of an adverse state of the elements. His string embraced King Cole, Orphan, Seaspray ana the memorable Garibaldi, an old Warwick hsrse bred by Harry Mitchell. After a locomotive jolting from Ipswich, I preferred to postpono my criticism of the horses until their first appearance in public, which was at the Warwick course on Friday moning at an early hour. It may have b*en the influence of the journey and change of air, to which horses are not impervious, that im pressed me with the apparent seedinoss of the lot* . Not only change of air, but shange of water will invariably affect the health of horses for a few days, until they become physica...
