Family Notices [Newspaper Article] — Yea Chronicle — 11 February 1892

In Memoriam. DOHERTY.—In loving remembrance of our dear daughter, Maria Doherty, who died at Flowerdale on the 7th February, 1890, at her father's residence. Though all pain, at times she'd smile a smile of heavenly birth, And when the angels called her home she smiled farewell to earth; Yet again we hope to meet thee when the day of life is fled, And in heaven with joy to greet thee, where no farewell tears are shed. -Inserted by her loving parents.

MOLESWORTH NOTES. [Newspaper Article] — Yea Chronicle — 11 February 1892

MOLE5WO TH NOTES. Oust creamery still continues to work with out a hitch under the excellent management of Mr. Boddly. Although the supply of milk has fallen off considerably since the start, still the suppliers are none the less eager to bring their lesser quantity-a good sign, truly, that our farmers recognise the advantages as compared with their old system of drudgery. The long stretch of dry weather which we have experienced militates against a good supply being kept up, even at this time of the year; but it is to be hoped that the Directors will be able to see their way clear to keep the creameries going until next spring, as to close them, even for a short time, would be against their best interests. An accident happened to Mr. E. M'Cristal one morning last week, while on his journey to the creamery with his milk. His horse stumbled and fell, precipitating the milk cans on to the road, and breaking the shafts of his cart. Mr. M'Cristal fortunately escaped scatheless. An accid...

TO HuE ED0ro0 OF 0ruE tIrONIcL_. Snr,-It has come nnder my notice, ahd also under the notice of many ratepayers of this Shire, the very reprehensible practice of op pointing one shire contractor clerk of works over another brother eontractor, whilat pile driving is carried on in bridges end culverts during the last six years. It is to be hoped that the present Enginetr will ut a stop to such practico, whilst there are many men, not contractors, in the Shire en ahle and willing to carry out such work.--1 ant, Ic., RATEPAYER.

KING PARROT CREEK. [Newspaper Article] — Yea Chronicle — 18 February 1892

(FROsi OUR OeWS COtRRFSPONDF.NT.) TIIE:E was considerable disappointment amongst the dairy farmers here, when it be. came known that the Creamery would not start operations this week. Everything appears to be in readiness for receiving milk. Then why the delay? The rabbits are having a rather lively time of it just now. The farmers, with a few exceptions, are feeding bunny on apples and stryclhnine, with good results, as many as 600 being killed in one night in a small paddock. In many places along the roads the stench is very offensive. The return match between the Flowerdale and Spring Valley C.C. uas played on the latter's ground on Saturday week H[illiear, who had charge of the F.C.C. boys, lost the toss, and was sent to the wickets, the last one falling for ?53 rons. Hilliear (13) was the only double figure,.but Law (0) hit merrily for his runs. On Spring Valley going to the wickets they found they could to nothing with the F.C.C. trundlers, who were simply unplayable. They wer...

MOLESWORTH NOTES. (FROM OUR OWN CORRESPONDENT.) [Newspaper Article] — Yea Chronicle — 18 February 1892

M3LcSWCTE NO1 S. (FTcosI ocr. OWN CtI?Iril-osNrENT.) Ma. D. Joussose, jun., of \Whanregarwen, was unfortunate enough to put his foot on a large tiger snake, while working in the pad'lock one day last week, with the result that the brute bit him on the calf of the leg. Mr. Johnson. with great presence of mind, which probably saved his life, immediately tied a ligature above the bite. and cut the Iitten piea out. He felt very unwell that night and next day, but, despite the en treaties of his friends, he refused to see a medical man, and the second day found himi very little the worse for his narrow escape. hlush fires have been raing up in the direc tion of Yarck, and on tls ll?cek ltange-some distance back; but so dlry is the grass about here that a single match would be sufficient to set the whole place on flire. The line repairers here are assiduous in their atten tion to this particular branch of their duty. Although a couple of months distant, the election is absorbing the minds...
