MEETING AT T1CKERA. EXTENSION OF BEETALOO MAINS. A well attended meeting was held at tbe Tickera Hotel, on Saturday after noon, to consider the moBt desirable route for tbe Beetaloo mains towards tbe township. Mr W. Gr. Cooke was voted to tbe Cbair. Tbe CHAIBMAN read the notice calling tbe meeting, and expressed a hope that the movers would be prepared with resolutions to bring before the meeting. It was more than pleasing to meet so many, for as tbe majority had got each a good supply of water from the late copious rains, the general idea was that they would take no farther steps to secure a permanent supply. He trusted the ques tion would be fully discussed for although tbe water would possibly not be wanted this year, yet in twelve months' time, it would be 5 heuee tbe need for con tinuing to urge upon the Government the necessity of completing the work that had been commenced. DESTRUCTIVE CYCLONE IN PENSYLVANNIA. GREAT LOSS OF LIFE. FACTORIES DESTEOYED. BEIDGES SWEPT AWAY. A tremendous and most destructive cyclone bas swept over the town of Pitts burg sod neighborhood. A number of buildings have been thrown to the ground, and seventeen persons were killed, while eighty others were more or less injured, London, Jan. 10 (evening). The Cyclone has destroyed a silk factory in Beading, another town of Pensylvannia. Seyenty persons were lulled, chiefly factory girls, while many anore have been injured. Scores of build ings and churches have been wreelced at Pittsburg, Seeding and Williamsport. Hundreds of persons being killed. London, Jan. 11. 1 The cyclone has also destroyed the Magata suspension bridge, and caused large buildings to fall as if they had been ?merely houses of cards.
