THE QUALITY AND UNIFORMITY OF CIMENT FONDU The following is a cop}' of the annual report from Messrs. David Kirkaldy and Son, Testing and Experimental Engineers, after testing . and inspection of the whole, output of Ciment Fondu at West Thurrock, Essex, England, . for the year ending March 31, 1930; All the material conformed with the ? re quirements of strength, namely, a minimum crushing strength of 5000 lb. per sq. in. for 3 in. cubes with a mixture of three parts by weight of standard sand and one part of' Ciment Fondu, tested 24 hours after mixing. Th results of 67 per cent, of the tests lav between 6000 and 8000 lb., per sq. in. and the figure of .8000 lb. per sq. in. was exceeded in 23 per cent, of the tests. All the material conformed with the require ments of the British Standard Specification No. 12, 1925, for setting time. The initial setting time was between I hour and 4 hours for 93 per cent., and the final setting time was be tween 2 hours and 5 hours for 92 per cent,...
