After one of the most re markable campaigns in the his tory of the country, William II. Taft was elected president by a majority rivaling the unprece dented Roosevelt majority of four years ago. Mr. Taft car ried all the solidly republican states and all but one or two un important so-called doubtful states, leaving Mr. Bryan the poor consolation of but little more than the solid south.
