Indeed, golf is an institution, and if one were asked the national game the answer would be, golf. This grand old Scotch game is being played very well at Moanalna. I noticed last week some very goodjirives, bat two or three are still weak on their petts. Mr. J. H. Taylor, the English open champion, keeps his ball always very low. and so gets a great roll. Most amateurs strike their ball in such 1 way that it jumps along the green instead of sticking to the turf as ft rolls. At Moanalua I noticed some vary good long approach shots, and I bavo so doubt in time we shall see a rattling good game. At tbe Oceanic wharf the schooner ifelcne is putting out her cargo and the lumber wharfs just above the Oceanic are crowded with lumber vessels. All tbe up-town wharfs are occupied and tbe berths at the RailroaJ are being taken by the coal veMebi discharging and the sugar leading. Yesterday there were twenty-seven deep water vessels in port with an aggregate tonnage of over twenty-seven thousand tons. This time last year there were a great many more vueeots in the harbor as on account of the quarantine restrictions the work of discharging and Joading was greatly hampered. ...
