Hillis of near Cone, was in Crosby ton the first of the week and brought with him a fine dressed hog that brought $21.50. This hog was hardly a year old and never ate anything but maize. Mr. Hillis tells us that he has sold $200.00 worth of hogs the past year and that he is just getting into the hog busi- ness in earnest, He expects to .make a fortune dealing in and breeding, hogs, and he will cer- tainly succeed if he plants hogs in the greater numbers and sticks to maize and kaffir. Up to Tuesday night the re- ceipts of thl two cotton yards of .'Spur totaled 2,425 bales; 1,533 having been received at the j Farmers' Union and 802 at the Public Yard. As the product has been comiug in at a rapid rate during the week the figures are now estimated at from 2,500 to 3,000 bales. At the same date the Swenson' Gin had turned out 1,268 bales, while the Farmers' Gin Company had handled 780 bales, making a total of 2,008 bales ginned in Spur this season. Very few, if any, of the farm- ers of the Spur country have finished gathering their cotton, while a large per cent of the cot- ton growers of the country have only begun in harvesting their crops.
