Struck by Lightning. [Newspaper Article] — The Blayney Advocate and Carcoar Herald — 10 December 1898

Struck by Lightning. Even animals are afraid of lightning. As far as we know they have bad nobody to tall them that lightning kills, excepting the instinct which puts the fear of death iu all hearts. Even the animals treat themselves when they are sick, and their cures are efficacious. They kuow the herbs which will benefit their complaiat, and it is by watcbincr the animals that we mav often get knowledge that will joake a turn off for us from the road to Death. Some people put their little faith in doctors, at they should, and doctors have their remedies, only they are not patented. They mostly wou:t stand the test of being put before an intelligent public. The best remedies the world ever sees finally comes before the public as a patent remedy, as it is natural it should to do to, and the test it passes through is shown by its success. There is no thine like a good purgative which has no reaction, a remedy which acts so mildly and continuously thaVthe good effects of it can be fe...

Not Even If it Cost Twenty Shillings. [Newspaper Article] — The Blayney Advocate and Carcoar Herald — 10 December 1898

Not Even If it Cost Twenty ' Sblllinffg. A notable percentage— about one-third, I think —of the power of a steam-engine is used up in over coming the friction of its own parts. Hence in jtgtprs are constantly testing devices to reduce friction. Yet they o in never overcome it; an j tho resistance created by it rapretents power (and hence expense also) abialutely lost. New. the human body is a machine propelled by heat, exaotly as an engine it ; xn-.t anything that retards it may be considered as friction. Very good then. _ You have noticed great differences in your own vigor, gome d-vs you work eas Iv. and on othp.ru with difficulty. This is so w ether you are chiefly a J3Q»cle-vT0rker or a br»in -worker ; or a mixture of both— as most people are; Occasionally you arc able to do more work in n day than' at other times you can do in three. Treasure-Seekers. [Newspaper Article] — The Blayney Advocate and Carcoar Herald — 10 December 1898

Treasure-Seekers. Buried or sunken treasure has always had a great fascination about it, as story-book writers and reader* well know ; and when we bear of actual efforts being made to find and recover such riches from the depth of the -«a,. we- are sure to take much interest in tho proceedings, although we have no chance of sharing in thi proceeds. Such a search is now in progrets in Dunworley Bay on the coast of Cork, divers being busy in examin ing a wreck -which has lam there for many years. Some say thai it is one of the ill fated Armada galleons ; others, with appar ently bitter authority, that it is a pirate schooner which foundered during the reign of William and Mary. And this latter ptory is to some extent corroborated by the coini of that reign which have already been recovered from the wrecked ship. It is not rhe first time that attempts have basn made -to recover treasure from this spot, for half a cuntqrv ago a direr was busy here, and suc ceeded in recovering various a...

You walk too far or ride too far. . - You call this over-ekertien. You cannot sleep when night comes. Your back aches, your head aches, often you ache all over. ' ? ' Oh, you say it's because I'm tired out. Now this isn't right, it's because your kidneys are tired. They can oaly do just so much and the lifting, stooping straining or «xerting has retarded their action. ? The heart has pumped' the blood into them faster than they could filter it. The filter is overtaxed and becomes clogged. They cry for assistance in the many aches that follow. Nothing starts the kidney working so quickly as Doan's Backache Kidney Pills. We say «o and people right here in Blay ney arc endorsing it. Read, the following testimony given by . Mr. J. Josephson of Adelaide St , this town. Watchmaker and Jeweller.
