Sgt..Victor'. Gilbert' said he had ;ilet. Constable Irvine outside Kiama and had accompanied him and Con stable Rochford .to 'Kiama Police Statibn where ..he met defendant. Both Constables had stated defend= antlhad taken bets, but had not writ ten any down nor accepted any sliPs. Defendant denied having accepted any. blets ant was' only settling up' for the previous Saturday. Witness searched defendant and found £24 and some odd shillings and two slips of paper. TENANCY CASE The hearing was resumed of .a case 'in- which the. Commissioner of Railways proceeded against Mr. and Mis. Judson for the, use of premises at Bombo. At the previous sitting Mr. Phil Adams had asked that evi dence be produced to show that the notice to quit was in order. Alexander Charles Land stated he held the position of Estate Agent for Railways and 'was authorised to is sue notices to quit. To Mr. Adams: The Judson's were tenants in the house when it was resumed by the Commissioner in 1945. He, as Estate Agent, had auth orised a tenancy agreement gith the, Judsons., He did not have 'any ex press authority to issue this notice to quit. At Gerringong .At. the School of Arts, Gerringong on Tuesday, 2nd September, the Ladies Guild of St. George's, Gerrin gong, organised a sale of work and concert programme of local talent. Despite the very stormy weather, the hall was comfortably filled and a sympathetic audiegce listened to a programme which, 'though profes sedly amateur, provided some genu ine enjoyment. Miss Helen McKinnon, formerly of Gerringong School staff, kindly as sisted with two vocal numbers as did Mi's. Hill, of Gerroa. A party: of girl Crusaders holiday ilig in the district, volunteered help and pleased the audience with elo cutionary items, impromptu sketches and a :beautiful rendering of "Day is dying in the West" unaccompanied and in parts, at the close of the concert. S.S. BOMBO Revisits Kiama The S.S. Bombo made its maiden voyage to Kiama, after having been refitted after war service, on Tues day last. She came into the harbour at about 11 p.m. on Tuesday night and after loading left port. at about 11 a.m. Wednesday morning. Captain Bell who was skipper the last time she entered this ;port on 20th February, 1941 is still in charge. She is to be used for the carriage of blue metal to Department of Main Roads works from Bateman's Bay to Eden. Her wartime activities included mine sweeping and supply work. ---0---
