KERANG FIRE BRIGADE. The ordinary monthly meetina of the above was held at the fire station on Tuesday evening, Captain Barnes in the chair. There was very little ordinary business to be dealt withl by the meeting. IMr F. Cock had notified the brigade that he would give a trophy, value 10s 6d, for competition amongst the members. A vote of thanks was passed to that gentleman. The principal item was the anding over of the trophies won at the recent demonstration at Bendigo. The cases of cutlery were presented to the members of the'winning team. The tea and coffee service was presented to the captain, 3Ir A. Barnes. The handing over and presentation was performed by the secretary, Mr E. Fisher, who in a few appropriate remarks congratulated 'he members of the team on their remark able success and hoped they would be as successful in future similar contests. Melba Photo Plays. The usual change of pictures was screened before an overflowing audi ence on Wednesday evening at the open hir theatre of the above. The star item was an exclusive film, entitled "A Cry in the Night." This was indeed a mnas tea)iece. Other dramas, scenics and comics were shown, which provided a good night's entertainment. The Melba again show on Saturday evening. The management were so pleased with their last visit to Appin they it has decided to again show in the public hall on Friday, 17th inst. Kerang Skating Rink. Muir and Co report:-hav. ing held their usual fortnightly stock sale at their yards on the above date for which we yarded 370 sheep and 186 cattle, in. cluding ,00 direct from Balransld as ad vertised. Xbred weaners were in strong demand and prices ruled firm at best late rates. Fat cattle met with keen com petition and prices obtained were a shade in advance of late sales, all classes of store cattle met with a ready sale at late ruling rates. Milnes Bridge Rifle Notes. -*- The first competition for the year was shot on Saturday, March 28th. Twenty competitors took part in the shoot, the conditions being 7 shots at 300, 500 and 600 yards, handicap, for a trophy presented by Mr John M'Donald. The shoooting all round was poor, showing the want of practice. Only one com petitor succeeded in reaching 30 at 300 yards, but most of the cracks showed mnpnovement as they got back to the long ranges. Pride of place was taken by R. Long ,while G. Stott takes second place Below are the scores of prize winners, also scores for annual aggre gates. This is the second competition in connection with the aggregates.
