THE LATE MRS A. E. PIESSE THE ftJNifte Notwithstanding the " most incle ment weather; of last ^Sunday the funeral; of the late Mrs A. E. Piesse was the largest which > has yet , been seen in the district. The mournful cortege left the residence of the de ceased at 3.30, and .^proceeded to St. Andrew's Church, the "body being carried in from the hearse to the d'as near the chancel hy sympathetic friends. The church sfcas filled to its utmost capacity, a large number, quite 200, beinguriable to obtain admit tance. The church was most taste fully dressed id black; "and-the service, a most impressive one,, was conducted by the Rev J. A. Howes, the rector of the parish. The St. Andrew's choir added to solemnity of the occasion by rendering in a most effec tive manner three of the beautiful hymns suited to the opcasion. The Rev J. A.
