Pigeon Shooting at Taconey . PHILADELPHIA , Dec . 27 , 53 . DEAB CLIPPER—I hasten to give you a report of the shooting yesterday at Mr . Kinaevs Hotel , Taconey . TheTe was a very large muster of guns on the ground , and any amount of good birds , at a very low price , the proprietor being evidently as anxious to give and see sport as to make money . The first match—between the Major and Mr . Caldwell—came off at 20 birds each . Mr . C . won , killing 18 ; the Major 16 . It was counted good shooting , the birds being in fine condition , and going off in gallant style . Spring traps were used and shot confined to lioz . Several other matches came off . PIGEON SHOOTING- LEE AKB BECKERS . —On Monday several hundred spectators assembled on the shooting grounds . at Hyde Park ; Sheffield , to witness the match for £ 25 aside , between Mr . Stephen Lee , the celebrated crack shot from Donoaster , and Mr . Francis Beoker s of Sheffield , at 35 birds each , 91 yards rise , five traps , placed 12 yards apart , lr bz . of shot . Umpires having been chosen , Mr . Thos . Peaeock , gamekeeper , from Wheatley Hall , consented to officiate aa referee , Mr . JONES AND SMITH . —Old Smith of Ipswich , and James Jones of London , walked their exoiting and interesting 14 mile match , for J £ 25 a side , on Monday last , near the Green Dragon , South Minims , Barnet . Both competitors were well up to the mark , and seamed determined to win , therefore a well and hard-contested match was the result . Jones is a smart young fellow , and trained himself at Deal , his native place .
