[ the Boy on ftc farm j [Newspaper Article] — Farm Home — 1 December 1903

[ the Boy on ftc farm j THE PARMER IN THE CITY . W . H . Miller writes : A farmer should not go to the city unless he has business there . As a rule-a farmer should take a load of farm-produce for sale , and bring home or deposit more money tifen lie had when he left home . The better way is to go to the City regularly : with butter , eggs and other produce . Where one lives spme distance from the city , as the -writer does , it is well to have his load all ready loaded before he goes to bed at night . A man can sleep better if he knows he Is all ready to start when the time comes . Have a platform spring wagon of such capacity as you need to load on the truck without piling up too high and damaging the under articles . The wagon should ¦ have wheels and springs of 1 , 500 to 1 , 800 pounds capacity at least . When new potatoes , corn and other bulky an , d heavy articles come in the fall we need a roomy box and strong rig to stand the rough roads . Have a variety of articles that a...

mMnm «>»» » m farmers * Colleges [Newspaper Article] — Farm Home — 1 December 1903

mMnm «>»» » m farmers * Colleges !»¦¦ ¦¦ ¦»¦ »¦ mm » Prof . C . G . Hopkins writes : Some time ago , while addressing a meeting of farmers in an Illinois town , I was honored by the presence in the audience of several school teachers who had come to attend the teachers institute in the same town . I spoke on some phase of technical agriculture and of course found it necessary to make use of some technical terms , such as carbohydrates , protein and nitrogenous , terms with which every progressive farmer and stockman is familiar . Later in the day , waiting for a train , I had the pleasure of attending the teachers institute , and , incidentally , I had the benefit of hearing myself thoroughly criticised while I meekly sat and listened quite unobserved . The high school superintendent of a neighboring town was speaking on the poor policy of employing cheap teachers , but he took occasion to inform his audience that , besides preparing his own address that morning , he had ...

i »»» m »»» n »» mn > i »>»»» . Home making j LEARN TO SYMPATHIZE . In the first place / let . a man make a companion , and not a slave , of a ¦ woman . Let him allow her a certain suiji of money weekly ; so much for household expenses and so much for her pin money . Give her little surprises in the way of theater tickets or buying a favorite book or flower . Lavish the little attentions upon her that you did before marriage , and which no woman grows too old to appreciate . Let her surroundings be made as congenial as possible and let her have a vacation from household drudgery once in a while . Dont scold or nag upon every provocation . Learn to listen and sympathize with her in her little troubles . If a man does all this he will find that he has not bought-a gold brick , but has a good paying claim . TIME ECONOMT . If we could only gather up the wasted : moments at the end of the day , how many hours we should have for rest and recreation . In Home and Flow...
