Any action likely to hasten the con- structfon of railways in Arizona, is ac ceptable herca ways. The various prom merit newspapers each make up their "Washington news-, as far as possible with a view to influence public opin ion in the direction they desire public action. Thus it is that the New York, Boston, Chicago and San Francisco journals agree in doing all they can to prevent any aid to the Texas and Pacif ic company, for the interests of their respective localities would be rather impaired than improved by it. The vast moneyed power of the nation is largest in the cities named, as well as the railway and slipping businesses of the country and foreign nations in the United States. Comparatively speak ing, the financial and commercial in terests of the sections interested in the Texas and Pacific railway, are weak and without m...

a?Sr m "4 en; w I'Ifv TnE Citizen. FRIDAY. JANUARY 4. 1878. Bonier Attention Injurious. The steady prosperity of any people can only be maintained by peace. Wars or fears of war repel capital and men of prudence from their presence, and attrct the reckless adventurers of every grade of badness. These facts are undeniable or will not be denied by men of ordinary observation and frankness; and yet just now there are 'men alonsr oar southern bonier where so much in the way ot mining and Btock-growing not only depends on peace but a general confidence that peace will be unbroken, evidently anx ious for war with Mexico, and Mcxi can and American army officers have been seen to embrace each other and talk of what treatment each would give the other in case of their capture as prisoners. Some of this conduct mav be attributed to Christmas diet but perhaps the diet simply dispeh re serve and causes the " true inwardness" to have public and free expression. This agitation and war-talk have a...
