J Dynamite and giant powder might answer admirably to remove obstructions flora Hell Gate in East Eiver, New York, but explosive measures in medication are ever attended with disastrous consequences. For instance, the bowels cannot be violently drenched with safety, nor is there the slightest neces sltv for so doing." On the contrary, it Is most nowise. None but the purblind adherents of antiquated theories in medicine advise or sanction such a course. To weaken the in testines the effect of drastic purgation is to compromise the health of the entire system. With Hostetter's Stomach Bitters, on the other hand, the bowels are relaxed, not by a convulsion of nature approximating to an eruption of Mt. Popocatepetl, but gradually, beneficially, without wrenching or dreneh- ine. The liver and stomach, as well as the bowels, are toned and benefited by it. The Foremost Standard Cotton Gin...

As the train pulled into the de- Sot every veice screeched a hoarse welcome, and i five seconds the crowd became a swaying, push ing mob, utterley regardless of the authorities. One wild eyed, enthusiastic man, climbed over the railings of the platform with a "How are you, Mr. President?" grasped the band of the president, and then turning emitted the call for three cheers from the already hoarse throats of those who followed. The president stepped down to the station plat form, and an attempt was made to pass the multi tude before him to give an opportunity for hand shaking...

AUSTIN WEEKLY STATESMAN. THURSDAY. OCTOBER 6 1887. 7 A Vaefol Precaution. It is useful precaution for the tourist, the commercial traveler, or the emigrant to the West, to take along Hostetter's Stomach Bit ters. Invalids who travel by steamboat or rail should provide themselves with it, in order to prevent or remedy the nausea which the jarring and vibration of vehicles in transitu often causes tbem. Vastly preferable is it for this simple, but needful purpose, to the heady unmedicated stimulants of commerce. On board ship, it not only remedies sea-sickness, but neutralizes the pernicious effects of water slightly brackish, which, if unqualllied, is apt to give rise to irregularities of the bowels, cramps In the abdominal region, and dyspepsia. To the aerial poison of malaria it is an efficient antidote. Sick headache, heartburn, and wind upon the stomach, are promptly banished by it. It healthfully stimulates the kidneys and bladder, and nulllllea the early symptoms of rheumatism....

When he made his appearance the sun was only a few degrees above the hor- nzon and heavy frost glistened like diamonds slanting rays. Buttoned chin, he stepped out crystals in the to the on the rear platform and spent 'half an hour alone looking at the country. The farmers left their milking, and housewives ran out of their houses to see the...
