d' ' - " / •f ■ v£*' Local Assembly hopes to get pastors up on the roof Sachse church aims for 2,000 Sunday By Patty Montagno Neither rain or snow or blazing heat will prevent the six Pastors of Sachse Assembly of God Church f rom spending a night on the church roof. That's if 2,000 people will attend their special combined Easter week- end service. The challenge event is named 'Rufus 2,(XX)' after a pet dog. Senior Pastor Bryan Jarrett pitched the idea to his staff as a fun fun and creative way to boost attendance at their Easter Services. Jarrett wrote a special drama enti- tled "The Week That Saved the World." His sermon serves as the nar- rative that describes the week that changed the world. The church broke down the 2,000 attendance in various increments starting with 1,500. _ Each pastor is assigned an atten- Kmcc number and if that goal is reached that pastor will secure a spot on the roof for the night. April 13,2006 N&MMNMH Hi li u Hazel Estel Vaughn • Funeral services for Hazel Estel Vaughn, 84, a long-time Wylie resi- dent, were held April 9, 2006, at Allen Funeral Home Chapel. The Revs. Sidney Brandon, Jerry North and Bud Scherer officiated. Mrs. Vaughn died April 6 in Garland. She was born Aug. 29, 1921, in Clarila, Okla., to William Elmore and Mary Helena (Denham) Nelson. She married Richard Robert Vaughn Aug. 6, 1938, in Atoka, Okla. They were married for 57 years before Mr. Vaughn died Feb. 10, 1996. Mrs. Vaughn was retired from Texas Instruments in Dallas where she had been an inspector in the manufacturing department. She was a member of the Affiliation Pentecostal Church. Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Genene and Don Hughes of Wylie; five grandchil- dren; nine great grandchildren; and a host of other relatives. The prospective groom is the son of Ben and Beth Scholz of Wylie. The wedding is scheduled for Sept. 2, 2006. in Amarillo. The bride elect is a 2003 graduate of Amarillo High School, attended Amarillo College and is currently a student at Collin County Community College.
