GOULBURN [Newspaper Article] — The Canberra Times — 28 October 1926

GOULBURN Tho closing of Gillespie and Co., boot manufacturers, of Goulburn, has become a serious blow to Goulburn. Much of the company's'turnover of £100,000 per annum was spent in that city, and the shareholders, mostly southern tableland people, have lost everything. Its arst mission will bo to provide wireless sots and Christmas trees for both the Goulburn orphanages. * . » * Finding that oratoric music was not .ippreciatcd, or at any rate, did not pay, the newly-formed Goulburn Choral So jicty has become the Choral and Oper- atic Society. AN OPEN RACE. [Newspaper Article] — The Canberra Times — 28 October 1926

AN OPEN RACE. While the form of the crack horses has been watched with intense interest, the news that several horses have gone amiss in their training has, to a cer- tain extent, made it impossible to gauge the relative merits of the horses on their present form even when past performances are taken into account, and this will, no doubt, go a long way to upsetting many calculations.

MANY GOOD CANDIDATES. [Newspaper Article] — The Canberra Times — 28 October 1926

MANY GOOD CANDIDATES. With the race only a few days off, It might have been expected that one horse, or perhaps two, would have been picked as above the others, but tile form displayed by several candi- dates has been so excellent that to pick the ultimate winner at this stage appears impossible. Consequently, the classic event this year will be one of the most open for years and the actual racing may prove surprising.
