BRITISH AVIATORS FIRST AND SECOND m SCHNEIDER CUP Venice Thursday Described as the most gruelling test for aviators ever devised, the Schneider Cup was competed for on Monday by six competitors, three from Hay and three from Great Britain. The event was won by Flight Lieutenant Webster; Great Britain; whose average speed was 285.1 miles an hour. Flight Lieut. Worsley; Great Britain; was second with 272.2 miles an hour. The winner is the idol of popular comment, being in- undated with congratulations and is sharing honours with the brilliant designer of the super marine Napier machine, Chief Engineer R J Mit- chell, who is only thirtytwo years of age. It is unofficially estimated that participation in the Schneider Cup will cost the British Air Min- istry one hundred thousand pounds.
