TOOLOOM DIGGINGS. Thursday, August 25. [Newspaper Article] — The Darling Downs Gazette and General Advertiser — 1 September 1859

TOOLOOM DIGGINGS. (From the Ipswich Herald Extraordinary) Thursday, August 25. By the arrival in town of Messrs. Turbayne (of the Bank of Australasia), Ogilvie, and Simmons, we are enabled to put our readers in possession of further news from the Tooloom Diggings— thus redeeming tbe pledge we made a fortnight ago. Mr. Turbayne brought down with him a nugget weighing 16 ounces, a very fine specimen -and which, it -will be remembered, was re ferred to in our last publication), and reports having seen a great many others, of various sizes. One 40 ounce nugget was to be raffled on the opening of the first public house there, six days after he left, but he did not see it. He also brought down 120 ounces of   small gold, and saw a great deal more among the   diggings, but they will not sell it till they know what it is   worth. It can be inspected at Mr. Given's, Brisbane- street, to-morrow. Mr. Ogilvie assures us that the diggings could be reached on horseback in two days by...
