Sidelights of the Conference THE TEACHERS' UNION. [Newspaper Article] — Benalla Ensign — 2 September 1938

Sidelights of the Conference " THE TEACHERS' UNION. Mr Pryor, past president of the Victolrian Teachers' Union, said that 'at present the Unionr was interested in women's promotions. There were no specials granted in 1936 under the 'Teachers' Act, but probably 155 will: be''grantod by the present Gov ernment. With only 156 promotions for over 4000 Women, there was very little relief to a heartbreaking dead look. At present 350 \teachers in Class V alone were classifled as out standing. .These have expectation of promotion at the rate of 80 a year. Some must wait therefore for 10 years, though they are rated as "out standing teachers." The Education Reform Association Is being launched under the leadership of Mr Tate,'late Director of Eiducation, and is recelv. Ing thebacking ot a llnfluentlal ladie in the city. The country branches and -orgalsatlonns are to be invited to form and co-ordinate. The aim is to Improve the educational facilities for every child, and ensure that each rece...
