Another Scheme for Rabbit Destruction. [Newspaper Article] — Riverina Recorder — 12 October 1887

Another Scheme for Rabbi^ Destruction. We hoar that Mr. A. R. Torrons, rabbit inspector of Yantara, formely in this district, has submitted a pro posal to the Minister for Mines. The . boundaries of a run being fenced .with Dotting, Mr. Torrens suggests that a sinulur fence should be erected' .din gonally from corner to corner . with- a trap paddock on the corner of the run, led up to by boundary und division fen ces. Operations should be started on tlio divisions, of tho run most distant from the -trap, and the rabbits be driven ahead; As many sheep as the country could carry should bo placed in these paddocks, and overy means adopted to push the rabbits on. Gradu ally, the rabbits will strike eithor the diagonal or boundary lines of tho fence, and are thus led to the narrower part of the angle, and eventually into the trap at its apex, Then a temporary ( fence of wiro-netting should be erected and attached to existing fences where practicable, and whero not praoticuble to light ir...
